Heading in the hole on April 23rd! Tonto Loop
Hi Family and Friends!
I hope my note finds everyone healthy and doing well.
It is time for my 2nd annual request for cash in which all proceeds go to support my favorite place in the World! Last year I raised more than $3k and took the silver medal among GCC staff. This year I am going for gold and hoping to raise $5k. Anything you can do small or large helps support this wonderful place where I am fortunate to live. Thank you again to all who supported me last year.
On a personal note, Meaghan and I are doing well. Meg graduates from NAU in April with a degree in Medical Micro-Biology (I do not understand any of her notes or papers) and a minor in Psychology. Our Angels have taken care of us and have been looking down with a smile. As you may imagine I am very proud.
The 2021 hike will be the Tonto loop. I will start at an elevation just over 7200 ft and go down about 4.5 miles to around 3200 ft. I will either start on the Bright Angel Trail or South Kaibab. At Indian Garden or Tip Off I will take the Tonto Trail. Either way I must go up.Total hike is about 13 miles. You can Google it for more info. I will send pics, videos, and updates like last year.
The Grand Canyon Conservancy Trailblazing event this year is to celebrate National Park Week! Grand Canyon Conservancy is the official nonprofit partner of Grand Canyon National Park and is raising $50,000 for priority projects at the canyon like trail maintenance, educational programs, protection of wildlife and native species, and preserving rich cultural heritage.
